ARC hosts new season of family fun
Theatre companies and comedians have allowed their imaginations to travel to a faraway place in creating a sack full of magical and entertaining productions to bring to ARC for the autumn season.
From children’s classics to shiny new tales, all topped off with a spectacular Christmas show, children and parents are asked to take a deep breath and step inside.
Tall Stories presents its latest creation, the nursery rhyme inspired Twinkle Twonkle which will light up the new season on Saturday 11 September. The musical and mysterious tale follows Stella as she climbs up into the night sky, encountering various oddities, including Pegasus the flying horse, and a cow jumping over the moon.
Back down to earth and month’s shows continue with fantastical moonlit adventure The Night Pirates on the 28 September. After they tried to steal the front of his house, Tom joins a clan of daring girl pirates as they travel across the high seas to seek out an island where Captain Patch and his really rough, tough grown-up pirates are guarding their treasure. Young audiences can immerse themselves in the combination of puppets, song and ballet dancing pirates in this delightful adaptation of the much loved picture book by Peter Harris and Deborah Allwright.
Next on the line up takes the audiences far far away from Stockton into the depths of Russia, to join Peter and the Wolf, with Sea Legs Puppet Theatre’s thrilling adaption of Sergei Prokofiev’s world famous classic. The energetic and fun adaptation told with the use of puppets, storytelling and a brilliant musical score, the leads viewers led into an enchanting storybook world where they are introduced to Peter’s ancient grandfather who tells him the exciting story of the day Peter caught the big hungry wolf.

Tees Valley Dance return to entertain the younger masses with a fantastic new dance theatre production Karli, Mustafa and the Crocodile Club. Two friends, Karli and Mustafa, members of the Crocodile Club, travel the world and other planets with supersonic speed and extraterrestrial powers. They are in pursuit of new members to join their Club - children who love adventures and have a lot of really good ideas.
On Saturday 20 November James Campbell offers a younger alternative to ARC’s comedy season with Comedy and Songs for Kids, his brand new stand-up comedy show mixed with funny songs about life, sausages and how superheroes go to the toilet.
To top of the season it doesn’t get much more spectacular than Tall Stories latest creation, The Snow Dragon. Following the huge success of last year’s Christmas Show, The Gruffalo, ARC is pleased to announce extra dates for both school and public performances to accommodate the popularity of the Christmas show. The Snow Dragon’s visit guarantees to bring story-telling, comedy and a magical, mysterious world for everyone aged 3 and up.
