ARC unveils autumn stage of 2010 Drama
As the UK summer reaches its peak, ARC’S drama season has no signs of dipping as the autumn arrives with a blend of innovative and classic theatre.
From hating computers, to home performances, the summer season showcased a diverse range of theatre to suite all audiences, and the autumn season looks to do the same.
The September’s curtain goes up on the first of the drama performances with the interactive Wherever I lay My Hat, where north east Rabbit Damage ask for residents of Stockton and surrounding areas to draw upon their own ideas of what is home.
Gliding into ARC on 6 October 6.0 How Heap and Pebble Took on the World and Won, presents the story of Heap Krusiak and Pebble Adverati, the greatest ice dancers the world has ever known, who will attempt, against all odds, to bring back what the world took away by competing again five years after the last of the world’s ice has disappeared.
Next on the performance cards, ARC’s Associate Theatre company Vivid returns with a bruising dissection of modern relationships. Patrick Marber’s Closer, Wednesday 20 October, creates a story of love and protecting your heart from being hurt and can have major repercussions if not handled with care:
‘Vivid theatre indeed.’ EdinburghGuide
‘Superbly acted and utterly compelling.’ EdFringe
‘Provocative theatre.’ Three Weeks
From modern relationships to a 17th Century tale of love and betrayal, Vivid Theatre switch from modern to classic with John Webster’s The Duchess of Malfi, Wednesday 24 November. When the recently widowed Duchess falls in love with a lowly courtier, she knows it must forever remain a secret.
In keeping with the classics, Love&Madness offers their interpretation of Shakespeare’s Richard the III, a tale of a brilliant, scheming hunchback who murders and seduces his way to the throne, Tuesday 9 November.
On the Thursday 21 October Lizzie stops off in Stockton in the midst of a quest to rekindle the lost flames of married couples throughout the country in The Perfect Wife Roadshow. This sharp, satirical take on modern marriage promises to expose the flaws in our relationships and sees a welcome return to ARC for the hilarious Plested and Brown.
Finally The Missionary’s Position, the story of disgraced Rector of Stiffkey who famously forgotten after being shunned by the establishment but called a saint by his parishioners, on Thursday 18 November.
