Chart topper Sandi Thom to play at ARC
Scottish singer-songwriter Sandi Thom is showcasing her hotly anticipated album Merchants and Thieves at ARC on Saturday 26 June, as she continues her UK tour promoting the album.
The Macduff singer-songwriter’s return to the international stage with the hotly tipped Merchants & Thieves, serves to exhibit her tremendous versatility as one of today’s finest female performers.
Her third studio album materialized after Sandi was invited to tour the UK and Europe by new blues powerhouse Joe Bonamassa and the end result has had a positive reception from the press:
‘By closing track Belly Of The Blues, she has submitted to her destiny.’ The Scotsman
Sandi’s first hit I Wish I Was A Punk Rocker was the 47th biggest selling UK single from a female artist of the 21st century according to the Official Charts Company, as of January 2009. The infamous track came from her 2006 debut album Smile... It Confuses People which shot to number one in the album chart on 11 June that year, selling over 700,000 copies worldwide. I Wish I Was A Punk Rocker was later nominated at the Brit Awards for Best British Single.
The latest album is the first released through Thom's own record label Guardian Angels, after she parted ways with her former label Sony BMG. With track titles including, If Heartache Were Nickels and This Ol’ World, which features blues musician Joe Banamassa, Sandi shows off her ability to diversify and explore deeper and more organic musical roots.
"Forget everything you thought you knew about Sandi Thom...on her new album Merchants & Thieves she's plunged deep into the blues, delivering a string of virtuoso vocal performances and some superb songs." News of the World.
This June, ARC looks forward to welcome the hugely successful and newly re-invented Sandi as she showcases her latest creation Merchant and Thieves and embarks on her journey of the blues.
