UK music scene welcomes back Geno and his Ram Jams
ARC is preparing for some explosive funk and glacial grooves as Geno and the Ram Jams foot-stomp their way to Stockton this June.
After some time-out with his hypnosis course, and an immortalization thanks to Dexy’s Midnight Runners Geno, the man himself and his wingmen have re-grouped to pick up where they left off - bringing the house down in the hippest bars and clubs in the UK, including ARC on Thursday 24 June.
Geno Washington and The Ram Jam Band had two of the biggest selling UK albums of the sixties both of which were live. Hand Clappin, Foot Stompin, Funky Butt Live was in the album charts for 48 weeks of the year 1966 and was only out-sold by The Sound of Music and Bridge over Troubled Water.
The rare occasion for a US Soul superstar to visit the UK is not one that often passes lightly, but having come over as a part of the US Air force and stayed, Geno lends his soul to the UK.
Pioneered the ‘Go, Go’ style of performing the front man and his posse boast a phenomenal support group list, including the likes of Jimi Hendrix, Cream, and Pink Floyd.
“This is one man who knows how to keep his mojo working.” Guardian
Geno and the Ram Jam Band owe their worldwide recognition in part thanks to the band’s dedication to touring and the high energy gigs leave audiences breathless and demanding more continuous beats and incessant hits. Fasten your seatbelts Teesside, you’re in for a ride.
