One-Man Star Wars Trilogy

One-Man Star Wars Trilogy

Tuesday 15th July

8pm

F:£9 C:£7

Canadian actor Charles Ross spent much of his childhood in a galaxy far, far away, watching Star Wars videos over - and over - and over again. The result of this misspent youth is his hilarious show, One-Man Star Wars™ Trilogy, where he single-handedly plays all the characters, sings the music, flies the ships, fights the battles and condenses the plots into just sixty minutes!

Now returning to the UK due to public demand, whether you’re a committed Star Wars fan or simply want to enjoy a fast-paced, side-splitting evening that’s out of this world, make sure you don’t miss this show!

"A delight for fans… but there’s enough here to satisfy casual observers too.” – The Independent

“It’s a joy… quite brilliant.” - Daily Telegraph

“Funnier than you could possibly imagine!” – Spin Magazine

NEW LINE UP NOW FEATURING PHOENIX NIGHTS STAR JUSTIN MOORHOUSE!

Facebook? Myspace? Bebo?

Justin doesn’t want any new friends.  Actually, he needs to drop a few.  In his brand new show for 2008, Justin is on a mission to discover his five true friends.  His band of brothers.  His nana once said you are truly blessed if you can count your friends on the fingers of one hand.  She also said cats were magic and that Ken Dodd was her ex-boyfriend but that was when she was a bit older.

So join Justin as he explores his address book and begins to purge.

Who goes, who stays…he decides.

As well as starring in two series of the award winning ‘Phoenix Nights’, Justin has made numerous TV appearances including ‘8 out of 10 Cats’ and  ‘Shameless’ (Ch4).

Early in his career he supported Jimmy Carr and Peter Kay before going on to earn a nomination for ‘Best Comedy Performance’ at the prestigious Manchester Evening News Theatre Awards with his first solo show.  Following last year’s Edinburgh festival debut, Justin toured the UK to sell-out audiences and critical acclaim and had a show commissioned by Radio Four. His daily radio show on Manchester’s Key 103 has been nominated for two Sony Awards and he’s just completed filming on Ken Loach’s new film so is all set to hit the big screen in the autumn.

Catch him while you still can!

Its 2 years since Dan played ARC, and after a standing ovation (mainly from the ladies!) we thought it was bloody high time we got him back, and he’ll be previewing his new Edinburgh show.

One of the circuit’s brightest stars. Hugely funny, often raucous, sometimes poignant, always vivacious. This is stand-up not restricted by laboured themes or scripts, its just Dan doing what he does best.

Seating for this event is unallocated. To reserve a table for groups of 10 or more please contact ARC Box Office (Please note tables may not always be available for reservation.)

Al Pitcher is unique, a star in the making; a genius. Why do people keep saying these things about him? We think it’s because he makes them laugh lots including the people at Montreal, New Zealand and Melbourne comedy festivals! Danny Deegan is a skilful raconteur and there’s something of the Dave Gorman with him. It’s his over earnest examination of such a ridiculous, pointless time-waster of a subject. The inventiveness in the set-up, and a couple of neat twists, also add to the quality.

MC Matt Reed will guide you through the night’s proceedings and we’ll have a newer act on in the middle.

John Gordillo is back on the international circuit after a few years hiatus and he hasn’t lost any of his punch. With a canon of intelligent, provocative material, he picks away obliquely and relentlessly at his subjects to find fresh jokes, taking comedy away from tried-and-tested formula into more unexpected terrain - yet always aware that cleverness comes a clear second to funniness.

Seymour Mace for the comedy connoisseur will be no stranger. A main character(s) in Johnny Vegas’ “Ideal” Seymour played twins ‘Craig’ & ‘Steve’. He still regularly gigs on the UK circuit having won City Life Comedian of the Year in 2003 and Best Breakthrough Act at the North West Comedy Awards in 2004.

MC Jason Cook is your host for the evening and a fresh face in the middle section will split the night up nicely.

Jim Jeffries

Jim Jeffries

Saturday 11th October

9pm

F:£12.50

Jim Jeffries, the controversial Aussie stand-up, returns triumphant to Stockton with a brand new show, ‘Hammered’, at ARC.

Jim succeeds with jokes that most comedians wouldn't touch. With an ability to both charm and offend the crowd in equal measure, he is regarded as comedy’s fastest rising young star. His brash confrontational style has made him one of the most sought after comics on the world stage, radio and TV Screens.

Over the last year Jim had recorded his first live DVD, signed a development deal for his own TV show and hosted the American NME Awards in Los Angeles. So is his luck changing and does he care? Not really, he’d prefer to just hang out with you and get hammered.

“…Jim Jeffries is a great comic, who could one day be a Great Comic…”   THE TIMES ****

Greg Cook is a gruff working class comedian who cuts an unforgettable figure. Looking at him, you wouldn’t believe he used to be a lawyer. ‘Law and comedy is essentially the same gig,’ says Greg, ‘telling lies for money. But this way I don’t have to wear a tie.’

Support comes from The German Comedy Ambassador to The United Kingdom, Henning When. This is not the easiest of jobs because the Germans allegedly do not have a sense of humour. Henning does not find that funny. Expect a deconstructed look at comedy in true German style, Henning’s attention to even the minutest detail takes you to anally retentive and beyond. Brilliant.

MC Jason Cook returns and as always, we support new comedy in the middle section with a new act.

Half toff, half pikey... All comic!

Comedy favourite returns with a blisteringly funny new one man show about marriage, class, the youth of today and anything else that strikes him as humorous. It hard to say any more than that as this blurb had to be written in April when the new show was barely taking shape. He might end up doing an hour about going to the Opera for all I know. Oh, no he's done that.

“Jokes come so fast that hecklers don’t have a chance to get a word in edgeways” The Times

Headline act is Anthony Johnston Aethelwulf Sulla Law, or as we know him…Tony Law. “Imagine if Harry Potter was a Canadian non wizard in his mid thirties who writes very funny jokes with his big hands. That’s Tony Law” Sean Lock.

Support for the night comes in the shape of Vince Atta. Some say it’s wonderful, we find it odd that Vince manages to include students, Spanish horses in a kitchen, psychotic London ex-girlfriends, pointless racial pride and the advantages of an alcoholic mother in his set.

Jason Cook returns for his 3rd gig on the trot and a fresh face makes up the middle section.
