Welcome to ARC's Activities 2008!
Welcome to ARC’s Activities programme for January to March. If you fancy trying something new or a night out with a difference then our range of activities should be right up your street.
Our activities continue to be extremely popular and for some you must block book. All dates, times and prices can be found below.
Please check carefully as some activties must be started from the first week.
Summer Schools
Dinky Doodles
For ages 3-5yrs
Wednesdays 30th July, 6th, 13th, 20th and 27th August
10.30am-12pm
£6 (or £24 for 5 sessions, 1 week free)
Following a different project each week children will be able to get messy with an array of papers, fabrics, glitter, pipe cleaners and paint under the guidance of our Arty Party leader Dawn Brown.
You don’t have to commit to all the sessions but a different piece of art will be produced each week and will be displayed in the gallery space in ARC for the summer.
Work can be taken home at the end of the holidays. All children must be accompanied by an adult (adults go free).
All arts materials are included.
Little Hands, Big Art
For ages 6-11yrs
Wednesdays 30th July, 6th, 13th, 20th and 27th August
1.30pm-4pm
£8 (or £32 for 5 sessions, 1 week free)
Wednesday 30/7/08: Stuffed Toys – Design fun characters & create your own patterns to transform into stuffed toys!
Wednesday 6/8/08: Famous Artists - sketch ideas inspired by famous artists and turn them into your very own masterpieces on canvas!
Wednesday 13/8/08: Board Game – design then make your own board game from scratch and take it home to play with your family!
Wednesday 20/8/08: Robots! – Build your very own robot from ordinary household items (please bring along any old boxes, toilet rolls etc)
Wednesday 28/8/08: Wall Hanging – Use textile and surface design techniques like tie dye & batik, beads and sequins to create a stunning wall hanging.

Funk Infusion - One Last Funk
For ages 12yrs +
Saturday 26th Thursday 31st July (excluding Sunday)

The funkiest summer school around. This year featuring the most popular elements of the previous 3 Funk Infusion Street Dance Summer Schools which have always been incredibly popular. Book early to avoid disappointment!
The week will culminate in a full performance in the main Theatre on Thursday 31st July at 7.30pm tickets priced £3.
ARClub Summer Show Challenge Roald Dahls The Witches

Following last years successful performance of Alice in Wonderland, ARClub invite you to join the ARClub 5 day challenge.
The Witches By Roald Dahl
This is not a fairy tale. This is about real witches. When the narrator's parents die in a car crash, he is taken in by his cigar-smoking Norwegian grandmother, who has learned a storyteller's respect for witches and is wise to their ways.
The bond between the boy and his grandmother is the core of this tale about love and understanding that survives even the boy's transformation into a mouse! And once the two have teamed up to out witch the Witches, the boy's declaration that he's glad he's a mouse because he will now live only as long as his grandmother is far more poignant than eerie.

Musical Theatre Summer School
For ages 11 16yrs

Want to do something different this summer? Aged between 11-16yrs and love singing & dancing to all your favourite musicals? Then this is the summer school for you. The course includes intensive workshops each day in: Ballet, Jazz, Lyrical Jazz, African Dance, Movement for Actors, Vocal Work.
There will be a sharing of work on Friday 22nd August which is free to attend. Time tbc.
Drama, Performance and Theatre
Musical Theatre Workshop

Come and join this energetic and fun class and learn tap, jazz and basic vocal techniques drawing inspiration from West End musicals and Hollywood films.

This course is for those star struck teens with a keen interest in the film and TV industry and want to gain new skills in everything from camera work to acting and directing. The group have benefitted from trips to BBC studios in Newcastle and London, and have worked with BORO TV in the last year.

ARC Kids Juniors get involved with all things fun and creative, with particular emphasis on drama, comedy and art in a structured but fun environment with the chance to perform on the Theatre stage.

This is YOUR club! You provide the ideas and take it in the direction that YOU want it to go in. So far we’ve covered acting, dancing, visual arts, script writing and film making, and even staged a pantomime at Christmas.

Focusing on all drama and movement, workshop leader Mik Errington and assistant Adam Exton will help you make the most of your creative talents in this popular and enjoyable class which will work towards a performance in the Theatre.

Bollywood Dancing for Beginners
For ages 13 - 17yrs

Bollywood dancing is a mixture of traditional Indian dancing, with western and modern influences. Bollywood has evolved from graceful and elegant classical dance, to western and energetic modern dance. It is also a fun way to keep fit!
In the classes, the tutor will introduce Bollywood dancing through a simple warm up and then move on to teaching a routine.
Beginners Street Dance
