ARC’s network for performing arts students
ARCADE Student is a membership scheme open to performing arts students aged 18 and over (primarily theatre, dance and spoken word) in the Tees Valley and surrounding area.

ARC works with students, as well as professional artists through its sister scheme ARCADE, to support the development of their work. Our ARCADE Student network is designed to create opportunities for you to work with professional practitioners and companies, to show your own work in a professional setting for critical feedback, to enable you to see some of the most exciting performance work being created in the UK today and to help you establish your own networks to support the development of your future career.

Professional development workshops
Throughout the year ARC will offer a number of workshops led by professional theatre and dance practitioners. Membership of ARCADE Student will entitle you to attend these workshops free of charge.
‘Scratch’ nights
ARC will host at least two student ‘scratch’ nights per year, offering ARCADE Student members the opportunity to show excerpts of your work in development in a professional setting for critical feedback. Professional artists, funders, producers and venue programmers will be invited and along with your fellow ARCADE Student members will give their feedback on your work, to assist you with its development.
Invitations to special events
ARCADE Student members will receive invitations to special events held at ARC, including receptions and talks. As well as meeting ARC Staff, we also want to help you meet other artists and supporting organisations
.
Networking and other opportunities
ARC works proactively with regional agencies such as The Empty Space and Dance City, as well as coordinating the North East Venues network. We will pass on information we receive about opportunities across the region to all ARCADE Student members to ensure you stay in touch and don’t miss out. You will also get the chance to work and network with professional artists and companies – which will look great on your CV! Former ARCADE students have made links with local writers, directors and filmmakers and have appeared in performances at ARC and in independent films and videos.
