About Us

ARC’s Mission

ARC is an organisation working from its venue to enhance the wellbeing of the whole community of Stockton and the Tees Valley, through arts-based education and entertainment, through creating opportunities to experience and participate in the arts, and through partnership with other organisations.

Activities at ARC

Live programme

ARC’s live performance programme includes music (indie, world, folk, blues, jazz, classical); comedy (both solo stand-up shows and a regular fornightly comedy club); drama; contemporary dance; spoken word; light entertainment and family shows.

Cinema

ARC’s cinema screens films Tues – Sat at 7.30pm, with a special student discount on Thursdays (£3) and a Silver Screen on a Wednesday at 2.30pm (£2.50). ARC is also part of Orange Wednesdays, offering Orange customers 2-4-1 tickets on Wednesday screenings. The programme includes a mix of mainstream releases, arthouse and world cinema.

Participatory

ARC runs courses and classes for children, young people and adults. You can learn salsa, Latin, ballroom and Bollywood dance, drumming, relax with tai chi or take an acting course. We have a special programme of daytime ‘silver’ activities aimed at older people, and our youth programme includes theatre, film and TV, music and dance.

Visual Arts

ARC’s ARTSPACE and Ground Floor Gallery show work by local and regional artists covering a broad range of media and style.

ARC in the community

ARC delivers arts projects in conjunction with many different community and support groups in Stockton and across the Tees Valley. This includes working in fields such as education, mental health, housing , refugee and asylum seekers support and drug/alcohol rehabilitation.

ARC’s Audiences

ARC welcomed 105550 visitors in 2009, attending live performances, screenings and classes as well as meetings, conferences, training sessions or just making use of the fabulous bar and catering facilities. ARC operates a free postal mailing list as well as emailing list, and you can also find ARC online at www.arconline.co.uk and on Facebook.
